Development of a Photogrammetric Alternative to Terrestrial Laser Scanning

Detailed three-dimensional modelling is most often
performed using a terrestrial laser scanner, which is
a fairly expensive instrument.
This project is based in the idea, that is should be
possible to replace the expensive laser scanner with
a photogrammetry based system, without sacricing
the accuracy of the nal product.
The aim of the project is to investigate the practical
applicability of som basic photogrammetric methods
using a piece of software developed by the project
group.
The project leads to the conclusion, that although
photogrammetry denitely has the potential to be
used as an alternative to terrestrial laser scanning, it
is in practice dicult to achieve the same degree of
robustness as is the case for laser scanning.
