This project investigates the feasiblity of creating a one-piece model of an IEC 60318-4 occluded-ear simulator that can be 3D-printed.

The specific acoustic impedance is measured on multiple iterations of the 3D-printed model, as well as on a commercial IEC 60318-4 coupler (G.R.A.S. RA0045). These measurements revealed expected deviations based on simulations.

Measuring the amplitude response of five insert earphones using the 3D-printed design revealed matching deviations to that of the specific acoustic impedance.

A design was created with less than 4.4 dB deviation in free-field related one-third-octave bands across measurements on five different insert earphones, in the frequency range 200 - 10 000 Hz.
