In the present report, a conceptual programme was developed in order to outline the framework of the future study. The programme addresses the world of photography by taking into account one of its rules for achieving an aesthetically pleasant picture – complementary colours. With its colour recognition algorithms, the programme targets the people having colour vision deficiency (CVD) by its effort to aid them in recognising different colours within the image frame. The results show that these algorithms can perform equally well during different light conditions as long as the framed scenery is not overexposed. The user comments and general outcome of this project point to the fact that the majority of the none-CVD participants as well as the people having CVD consider such application to be able to successfully relay information about surrounding colours, but in its current stage of development, can’t assist them in finding complementary colours fast enough.
