Abstract
Interaktiv grafik erstatter ofte komplekse partikel- eller væskesimulationer med imposters: forenklede billeder, der efterligner detaljerede effekter, for at holde billedhastigheden (frame rate) høj. Dette projekt sammenligner synsvinkel-afhængige imposters, som tilpasser sig beskuerens vinkel, med imposters i fast vinkel for at undersøge, om orientering påvirker den oplevede visuelle kvalitet. Arbejdet fokuserer på afvejningen mellem visuel kvalitet og ydelse. Studiet er stadig i gang, og der foreligger endnu ingen testresultater.
Interactive graphics often replace complex particle or fluid simulations with imposters: simplified images that mimic detailed effects, to keep frame rates high. This project compares view-dependent imposters, which adjust to the viewer's angle, with fixed-angle imposters to see whether orientation matters for perceived visual quality.
