Abstract
This thesis seeks to build a new model for leadership structures in Danish volunteer organisa-tions. This is done in the context of the Danish sports organisation, Aab (Aalborg boldklub). Specifically, it uses a postivitic objective research design combined with deductive focused methods to understand the current leadership issues and through a discussion of modern lead-ership theories and human behavior ideas there is built a new leadership model and a revised organisational design. This thesis finds that a specific model for leadership in a voluntary organization with employ-ees can be an effective tool for the board. It will ultimately help to create a positive environ-ment and in extension of that increase the number of members in the organization. The thesis also finds that a matrix design approach will help board members and offer several benefits to voluntary organizations with employees. The study should be the first part of a process to utilize leadership in danish volunteer organi-sations, the next phase is to test the results in AaB and then revisit the model and hopefully use it in a broader perspective.
