Abstract
Dette speciale undersøger den teoretiske mulighed for at forene økofeministisk omsorgsetik for dyr med økocentrisk miljøfilosofi og deres ontologiske og etiske implikationer. Projektet er motiveret af en kritik af vestlig rationalismes antropocentriske dualismer, som adskiller menneske og natur, fornuft og følelse samt subjekt og objekt, og som præger klassiske dyreetikker som utilitarisme og rettighedsteori. Specialet analyserer, hvordan omsorgsetikkens fokus på relationer, afhængighed, affekt og fortælling kan samtænkes med holistiske økocentriske perspektiver, der retter moralsk opmærksomhed mod økologiske fællesskaber. Med udgangspunkt i Josephine Donovan og Carol J. Adams, J. Baird Callicott, Val Plumwood og Timothy Morton gennemføres en teoretisk dialog for at afklare berøringsflader, spændinger og muligheder i en samlet etisk-ontologisk ramme, der kan bidrage til at gentænke menneske-natur-forholdet ud over antropocentrismen. Undersøgelsen er konceptuel og tilbyder begrebsafklaringer og syntesemuligheder snarere end empiriske resultater.
This thesis investigates the theoretical possibility of integrating ecofeminist care ethics for animals with ecocentric environmental philosophy and examines their ontological and ethical implications. The project is motivated by a critique of Western rationalism’s anthropocentric dualisms that split human and nature, reason and emotion, and subject and object, and that continue to shape influential animal ethics such as utilitarianism and rights theory. The thesis analyzes how care ethics’ emphasis on relationships, dependence, affect, and narrative can be brought into dialogue with holistic ecocentric perspectives that extend moral attention to ecological collectives. Drawing on Josephine Donovan and Carol J. Adams, J. Baird Callicott, Val Plumwood, and Timothy Morton, it conducts a conceptual discussion to clarify points of intersection, tensions, and possibilities for a unified ethical-ontological framework that helps rethink the human–nature relationship beyond anthropocentrism. The study is theoretical and offers conceptual clarifications and avenues for synthesis rather than empirical findings.
