Resumé
Dette speciale undersøger, hvilke muligheder og udfordringer der opstår, når Hartmut Rosas resonans-teori forsøges operationaliseret gennem Anete Strands OT/Sandboxing-metode. Specialet er struktureret i fire dele. Først argumenteres der for, at OT/Sandboxing kan forstås som resonans-sensitiv ved bl.a. ikke at følge modernitetens accelerationslogik, ved at udforske uenigheder uden krav om enighed, ved at lade metodens tre fortælleformer fokusere på resonante rum, ved at fremme berøringsflader med ting, mindske fremmedgørelse via figurer, støtte deltagernes egen stemme, omfavne det ukontrollerbare, understøtte en resonansvenlig arbejdspraksis og bruge sandkasseterrænet til at udforske erfaringer med resonans og fremmedgørelse. Dernæst vises, hvordan resonans-teorien kan indgå i planlægning, afholdelse og dataindsamling i en OT/Sandboxing-workshop, herunder valg af emne, antal deltagere, tilføjelsen af en miniøvelse, valg af resonanssensitivt laboratorie, succeskriterier samt dataindsamling og -bearbejdning med henblik på at identificere resonansrelationer. I den tredje del bruges indsigter og data fra en egen workshop til at udvide og udfordre Rosas analyser, blandt andet ved at pege på problemer ved at bruge resonans som adfærdsvejledning, uklare mål for et post-vækst-samfund, fravær af håbefulde narrativer, vanskeligheder ved objektivt at påvise resonans, spørgsmål til ansvarsbegrebet og teoriens forståelse af forholdet mellem mennesker og ting. Afslutningsvis konkluderes, at OT/Sandboxing kan fungere som én vej til at operationalisere resonans-teorien, at teorien kan berige workshopdesign og -praksis, at sandkassefortællinger kan bringe modernitetens historier ind i teorien, og at workshopresultater kan inspirere post-vækst-forestillinger. Samtidig påpeges udfordringer knyttet til forskellige forståelser af menneske-ting-relationer og ansvar. Specialet bidrager med en konkret fremgangsmåde til at omsætte Rosas teori i praksis og med forslag til, hvordan OT/Sandboxing kan indsamle og analysere data, og peger på behovet for videre forskning i de ontologiske antagelser i begge tilgange.
This thesis examines the possibilities and challenges that arise when attempting to operationalize Hartmut Rosa’s resonance theory through Anete Strand’s OT/Sandboxing method. It is organized in four parts. First, it argues that OT/Sandboxing can be understood as resonance-sensitive by, among other things, resisting modernity’s acceleration logic, exploring differences without requiring agreement, using the method’s three story modes to foreground resonant spaces, fostering contact with things, reducing alienation through figurines, supporting participants’ own voices, embracing uncontrollability, promoting a resonance-supportive work practice, and using the sandbox terrain to explore experiences of resonance and alienation. Second, it shows how resonance theory can inform the planning, facilitation, and data collection of an OT/Sandboxing workshop, including topic selection, number of participants, the addition of a mini-exercise, choosing a resonance-sensitive laboratory setting, defining success criteria, and collecting and processing data to identify resonance relations. Third, drawing on insights and data from an own workshop, it expands and challenges Rosa’s analysis by highlighting issues such as using resonance as a guide for behavior change, unclear goals for a post-growth society, a lack of hopeful narratives, difficulties in producing objective evidence of resonance, questions around the concept of responsibility, and the theory’s account of human–thing relations. Finally, it concludes that OT/Sandboxing can serve as one pathway for operationalizing resonance theory; that the theory can enrich workshop design and practice; that sandbox narratives can feed modernity’s stories back into the theory; and that workshop results can inspire post-growth imaginaries. At the same time, it identifies challenges stemming from divergent understandings of human–thing relations and responsibility. The thesis contributes a concrete approach for putting Rosa’s theory into practice and suggestions for OT/Sandboxing data collection and analysis, and calls for further research into the ontological assumptions of both approaches.
