Dette projekt udvikler en adsorptionsbaseret, passiv metode til kildesporing af tungmetaller i separatkloakerede regnvandssystemer. Som centralt sorbent undersøges ionbytterharpiksen DOWEX HCR-W2, herunder kapacitet, adsorptionshastighed, homogenitet, affinitet for forskellige tungmetaller, betydningen af co-sorption samt baggrundsindhold af metaller i materialet. To typer sorptionsceller med forskelligt inert medie (bl.a. vand og sand) konstrueres og afprøves i et laboratorieopstillet strømrende-system, der efterligner et afløb; her varieres vandfasens tungmetalkoncentration og eksponeringstid. Metoden testes desuden i praksis ved 14 dages udsætning i udvalgte regnvandsbassiner i Nordjylland for at estimere forekommende tungmetaller. Resultaterne viser, at DOWEX HCR-W2 og de fremstillede sorptionsceller er egnede til kildesporing af tungmetaller i separatkloakerede afløbssystemer.
This project develops an adsorption-based, passive method for source tracing of heavy metals in separately sewered stormwater systems. The ion-exchange resin DOWEX HCR-W2 is evaluated as the core sorbent, focusing on capacity, adsorption rate, homogeneity, affinity for different heavy metals, the effect of co-sorption, and background metal content in the material. Two designs of sorption cells using different inert media (including water and sand) are constructed and tested in a laboratory flow channel simulating a sewer, where water-phase metal concentrations and exposure time are varied. The approach is also field-tested by deploying the cells for 14 days in selected stormwater basins in North Jutland to estimate present heavy metals. The results indicate that DOWEX HCR-W2 and the produced sorption cells are suitable for source tracing of heavy metals in separately sewered drainage systems.
