Resumé
Specialet undersøger, hvordan danske folkebiblioteker kan udvikle og udnytte deres muligheder for at fremme voksnes læselyst med Vejen Kommunes Biblioteker som case. Med et litteratursociologisk afsæt ser projektet på litteraturen som et socialt fænomen og analyserer biblioteket som aktør i den litterære institution i et digitaliseret oplevelses- og videnssamfund. Baggrunden er et skævt fokus i nationale indsatser, hvor læselyst for børn og unge prioriteres, mens voksnes læselyst får mindre opmærksomhed, samtidig med at voksenudlånet lokalt falder. Metodisk kombineres en institutionsanalyse af folkebiblioteket (herunder Biblioteksloven, oplevelsessamfundet og firerumsmodellen) med kvalitative og kvantitative tilgange samt kulturformidlingsteori. Begrebet læselyst belyses via internationale studier og teoretiske perspektiver som Rita Felskis postkritiske læsning, Tænketanken Fremtidens Biblioteker og Lars Handestens arbejde med bestsellere. På den baggrund skitseres biblioteksdidaktisk forankrede strategier inspireret af oplevelsesøkonomisk tænkning, målrettet voksne læsere i Vejen og potentielt overførbare til andre biblioteker. This thesis examines how Danish public libraries can develop and leverage their capacity to foster adults’ desire to read, using Vejen Municipality’s Libraries as a case. Adopting a literary-sociological approach that views literature as a social phenomenon, it analyzes the library’s role within the literary institution in a digitized experience and knowledge society. The motivation is a national emphasis on children’s and young people’s reading, while adult reading motivation receives less attention and local adult lending is declining. Methodologically, the study combines an institutional analysis of the public library (including the Library Act, the experience society, and the Four Spaces model) with qualitative and quantitative approaches and communication theories. The concept of reading desire is clarified through international studies and theoretical perspectives such as Rita Felski’s post-critical reading, the Think Tank Future Libraries, and Lars Handesten’s work on bestsellers. Based on this, the thesis outlines library-didactic strategies inspired by experience economy thinking, tailored to adult readers in Vejen and potentially transferable to other libraries.
