Abstract
Hoping to create and apply knowledge more efficient, organizations implement their own intranets. But, despite of the many possibilities, the intranet does not fulfill their expectations. This paper is about a case-study of four Danish organizations already using their intranet to Knowledge Management. The research aim to explain the connection between the use of intranet and knowledge management by searching the material with to rival propositions. The first is Nonaka (1994) and his Dynamic Theory of Organizational knowledge Creation and second is Newell et al. (2002) with the theory about how knowledge can be transferred through participation in social networks. The connection has to be found in the very situations, but in general it is not to be found in the technology alone, but in a specific configuration between technology and the use of technology in a certain situation. From this connection a set of guidelines about how to use the intranet for knowledge management is deduced.
