Abstract
'This Master Thesis examines the mechanics behind designing a user interface with a heavy emphasis on the users. It builds on a case, where an industrial system was being upgraded, and needed both a check for new functionality, and a new user interface. The company had several constraints as had the environment where the system was used, which where included in the assessment regarding the new interface. Prominence was given to co-operation with the current users regarding their wishes for the new system. The inclusion of participatory design was attempted in order to let them work in co-operation with the design team to shape the new systems interface, as well as map out the need for new functionality that the system should include. '
