Abstract

Dette projekt undersøger, om omgivende lyssystemer (ambient lighting) påvirker, hvor opslugt spillere føler sig i computerspil, og hvordan 'immersion' kan forstås og måles. Først blev der gennemført semistrukturerede interviews med ti danske gamere for at afklare, hvad immersion betyder for dem. Interviewdata blev analyseret med grounded theory, en metode hvor begreber og temaer udledes af data frem for at være fastlagt på forhånd. På baggrund af analysen blev der udviklet et spørgeskema om immersion. Spørgeskemaet blev derefter brugt i et eksperiment, hvor 16 deltagere spillede under tre forskellige lysforhold. Forsøget blev videooptaget og fulgt op af spørgeskemaet. Resultaterne viste ingen statistisk signifikant forskel i oplevet immersion mellem lysbetingelserne.

This project examines whether ambient lighting systems affect how immersed players feel in games, and clarifies what 'immersion' means and how to measure it. First, semi-structured interviews with ten Danish gamers were conducted to understand their view of immersion. The interview data were analyzed using grounded theory, a method that builds concepts and themes from the data rather than starting with fixed categories. Based on this analysis, an immersion questionnaire was developed. The questionnaire was then used in an experiment in which 16 participants played under three different lighting conditions.
