Specialet undersøger, hvad 'individet' betyder i relationen mellem læge og patient. Med en hermeneutisk (fortolkende) tilgang ser vi på, hvordan ideen om individet kommer til udtryk i mødet mellem læge og patient, og om det er nødvendigt, at lægen opfatter patienten som et individ for at kunne behandle vedkommende. En hermeneutisk tilgang fokuserer på fortolkning og på, hvordan mening skabes i en konkret sammenhæng. Formålet er at tydeliggøre, hvilken rolle synet på patienten som individ spiller i behandlingen.
This thesis examines what the concept of the 'individual' means in the relationship between doctor and patient. Using a hermeneutic (interpretive) approach, we explore how the idea of the individual is expressed in the doctor–patient encounter, and whether it is necessary for the doctor to see the patient as an individual in order to treat them. A hermeneutic approach focuses on interpretation and on how meaning is created in context. The aim is to clarify the role that seeing the patient as an individual plays in treatment.
