Specialet undersøger, hvordan udvalgte interessenter konstruerer deres virkelighed og opfattelse af Dansk Boldspil-Unions (DBU) handlinger i forbindelse med One Love-anførerbindet under VM i 2022 i Qatar. Med Norman Faircloughs kritiske diskursanalyse som teoretisk og analytisk ramme analyserer vi udvalgte tekster med fokus på tekstlige træk, diskursive praksisser og deres forankring i den sociale praksis i Danmark. Studiet anvender en kvalitativ tilgang bestående af litteraturgennemgang, kvalitative interviews med praksisfællesskabet samt systematisk udvælgelse og kodning af empiri med henblik på tematisk kategorisering. Analysen omfatter DBU og fem danske medieaktører. Vi finder, at DBU fortolker episoden ud fra en traditionel fodboldforståelse, på trods af en udtalt vision om forandring, mens de fem interessenter anlægger en post-traditionel forståelse, hvor sportens resultater nedtones til fordel for bredere værdihensyn. Den danske sociale praksis medvirkede samtidig til at forme og muliggøre disse konstruktioner.
This thesis examines how selected stakeholders construct their reality and perception of the Danish Football Association’s (DBU) actions regarding the One Love armband incident at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Using Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis as the theoretical and analytical framework, we analyze selected texts with attention to textual features, discursive practices, and their embedding in Danish social practice. The study adopts a qualitative design that includes a literature review, qualitative interviews with the community of practice, and a systematic approach to text selection and coding to organize the empirical material into themes. The analysis covers DBU and five Danish media stakeholders. We find that DBU interprets the episode through a traditional understanding of football, despite its stated ambition to change this understanding, whereas the five stakeholders adopt a post-traditional perspective that downplays sporting outcomes in favor of broader value considerations. Danish social practice also helped shape and enable these constructions.
