Abstract
Denne afhandling tager udgangspunkt i, at belysning i kunstgallerier ofte udvikles på samme måde og virker stagneret. Formålet er at pege på en ny retning ved at undersøge menneskecentreret belysning (HCL), dvs. lys designet med udgangspunkt i menneskers behov, oplevelser og trivsel. Først gennemgås, hvorfor HCL er vigtig, og hvad nyere forskning siger om sammenhængen mellem lys og menneskelige følelser. Afhandlingen drøfter også forskelle mellem kunstgallerier og museer og, hvad det betyder for belysning, og den samler udbredte praksisser for galleribelysning. Dernæst præsenteres et eksperimentelt design i en kunstudstilling, hvor to forskellige lysopsætninger sammenlignes for at undersøge besøgendes følelsesmæssige reaktioner og præferencer. Resultaterne peger på en præference for at inkludere farvet, retningsbestemt belysning i gallerirummet. Afhandlingen afsluttes med at pege på behovet for mere forskning i teknikker og produkter, der kan understøtte denne nye tilgang til galleribelysning.
This thesis starts from the observation that lighting in art galleries is often designed in similar ways and has become stagnant. It aims to set a new direction by exploring human-centric lighting (HCL), meaning lighting planned around people's needs, perceptions, and well-being. First, it reviews why HCL matters and what recent research says about the links between light and human emotions. It also discusses differences between art galleries and museums and what these imply for lighting, and it maps common gallery-lighting practices. The second part presents an experimental exhibition design that compares two different lighting setups to examine visitors' emotional reactions and preferences. The findings indicate a preference for including colored, directional lighting in the gallery space. The thesis concludes by calling for further work on lighting techniques and products that could support this new approach to gallery lighting.
