Abstract

This thesis explores what gender equality in education means, how it can be measured, and how it can be promoted. Using Subrahmanian’s (2005) perspective as the main lens, the study reviews how four international frameworks assess gender equality in education and examines how UNGEI (2009) seeks to advance it. It also evaluates whether these frameworks and UNGEI apply Subrahmanian’s three-dimensional approach to gender equality in education.
