Abstract
To reach the goals of lowering Energy consumption, energy renovation of the current building mass is an element to reduce the consumption. An initiative to increase the renovation rate of the building mass can be fulfilled, by establishing network of craftsmen. Being part of the networks requires a certain level of competencies and awareness regarding potentials of energy renovation gained through education. Several networks have been established in Denmark, with focus on creating awareness of energy renovation and increase the competencies of craftsmen through education. The goal is to increase the amount of renovation, through decreasing energy consumption. Different initiatives are established in the networks trying to increase the renovation rate by simplifying the effort of the building owners to have renovation. To improve the competencies of craftsmen focus is put on education of master builder, regarding skills to gain awareness on potential renovation in buildings and having marketing initiatives. The education helps to increase the competencies of the master builder and gives knowledge to perform better counseling of the building owners. Further collaboration between partners in the network has increased the awareness of other potential renovation assignments. Participation in networks can benefit the collaboration between craftsmen in the network. The network gives a security for the building owner on a certain level of skills and the municipal support of networks, gives further trust on the network by securing a certain level of quality. The focus on marketing and counseling building owners is helping regarding awareness of renovation potentials for the master builder. Networks can increase renovation, but there must be an extra effort from the craftsmen to increase the renovation rate. Success in the networks comes with an interest in energy optimization, but it can also be an advantage, having an open approach to increase participants in the network. The needed change of competencies is mostly regarding awareness of the climate shell, and focus of new technologies, to gain knowledge of the potentials on energy reduction. Energy fairs have been a successful initiative and have increased collaboration between craftsmen, and given increased amount of assignments from building owners especially free energy counseling is giving more interest of the fairs. The municipality plays a role giving trust on the craftsmen from the building owners if they are part of the network, and can help establishing of networks.
