Specialet undersøger, hvordan digitale arkivalers autenticitet kan bevares, med særlig fokus på migrationsstrategien og dens anvendelse i et kommende samarbejde mellem Færøernes Landsarkiv og det danske Rigsarkiv. Udgangspunktet er problemstillingen, at digitalbevaring udfordrer traditionelle forståelser af originalitet, og at autenticitet i digitale sammenhænge må vurderes gennem integritet, pålidelighed og troværdighed understøttet af metadata. Med teoretisk afsæt i bl.a. Luciana Duranti og Frank Upward samt Records Continuum-teorien analyseres migrationsstrategiens funktioner for at vurdere, om den er egnet til at bevare digital autenticitet. Der gennemføres desuden et cases studie af den danske model af migrationsstrategien for at identificere, hvilke overvejelser LSS bør gøre sig ved en implementering i færøsk kontekst. Analysen peger på, at migrationsstrategien er dårligt egnet til at bevare digital autenticitet, fordi selve migreringsprocessen medfører ændringer i materialet. I forhold til LSS fremhæver specialet især behovet for at afklare, hvor højt autenticitet prioriteres i forhold til andre mål, samt at forholde sig til organisatoriske, juridiske og tekniske forudsætninger ved en tilpasning af den danske model.
This thesis examines how to preserve the authenticity of digital records, focusing on the migration strategy and its prospective use in a collaboration between the Faroese National Archives and the Danish National Archives. The study starts from the challenge that digital preservation disrupts traditional notions of originality, making authenticity a matter of assessing integrity, reliability, and trustworthiness supported by metadata. Drawing on the work of Luciana Duranti and Frank Upward and the Records Continuum theory, the thesis analyzes the functions of the migration strategy to judge its suitability for preserving digital authenticity. It also presents a case study of the Danish model of the migration strategy to identify considerations the Faroese National Archives should make when adapting it to the Faroese context. The analysis indicates that the migration strategy is poorly suited to preserving digital authenticity because the migration process itself introduces changes to the records. For the Faroese National Archives, the thesis highlights the need to clarify the priority given to authenticity relative to other goals and to address organizational, legal, and technical conditions when adopting the Danish model.
