Projektet undersøger, hvordan socialrådgivere forstår og omsætter helhedssyn til praksis i jobcentrets arbejde med aktivitetsparate kontanthjælpsmodtagere, samt hvilke rammer der hæmmer eller fremmer denne tilgang. Med udgangspunkt i kvalitative, individuelle interviews anvendes en fortolkende, hermeneutisk og abduktiv tilgang og et analytisk fokus inspireret af Donald Schöns refleksive praktiker og Michael Lipskys street-level bureaucracy. Analysen afdækker, at informanterne har forskellige og nuancerede opfattelser af, hvad det vil sige at arbejde helhedsorienteret, og at forståelsen og anvendelsen i høj grad præges af den konkrete organisations krav og arbejdsgange. Samtidig peger resultaterne på, at en række omgivende faktorer—såsom styringslogikker, forventninger og ressourcevilkår—både kan begrænse og understøtte implementeringen af helhedssynet, og at socialrådgivere løbende må navigere mellem modstridende krav og faglige idealer. Projektet belyser således betingelserne for at realisere centrale socialrådgiverkompetencer i beskæftigelsesindsatsen og den kompleksitet, der knytter sig til at arbejde helhedsorienteret i praksis.

This project examines how social workers understand and translate a holistic approach into practice in jobcentres when working with activity-ready recipients of social assistance, and which conditions hinder or enable this approach. Based on qualitative individual interviews, it applies an interpretive, hermeneutic and abductive design, drawing on Donald Schön’s reflective practitioner and Michael Lipsky’s street-level bureaucracy to guide the analysis. The findings show varied and nuanced perceptions among informants of what holistic practice entails, with understanding and use strongly shaped by organizational demands and procedures. Results further indicate that surrounding factors—such as governance logics, expectations, and resource conditions—can both constrain and support implementation, and that social workers continually navigate tensions between competing requirements and professional ideals. The project illuminates the conditions for realizing core professional competencies in the employment sector and the complexity of practicing a holistic approach in everyday casework.
