Abstract
In this thesis, I explore the Epistemology of Gregory Bateson, inspired by cybernetics, biology, information- and systems-theory, in relation to such concepts as 'individuality', 'myth' and 'Identity'. I argue that those processes of relationship, which are commonly denoted by the word `Identity', become akin to acclimation and addiction, whilest the Shadow of `existential nothingness' looms ever larger over the individual as a form of abstinence from that very same addiction.
