Specialet undersøger, hvordan identitet forhandles i Kim Leines roman Rød mand/Sort mand og Iben Mondrups roman Godhavn med fokus på hvordan koloniale og postkoloniale strukturer præger karakterernes identitet og følelsesliv. Gennem postkolonial teori, identitetsteori samt stedteori analyseres romanerne i lyset af relationen mellem Danmark og Grønland. Specialet viser, hvordan litteraturen skaber et rum for erindring og kritik, hvor kolonialismens eftervirkninger belyses, og grønlandske stemmer får mulighed for at (gen)definere kultur, identitet og fremtid.

The thesis explores how identity is negotiated in Kim Leine’s Rød mand/Sort mand and Iben Mondrup’s Godhavn, focusing on how colonial and postcolonial structures shape characters’ identities and emotional lives. Through postcolonial, identity, and place theory, the novels are analyzed in the context of Denmark-Greenland relations. The study shows how literature function as a space for memory and critique, revealing the lingering impact of colonialism and offering a platform for Greenlandic self-definition.
