Specialet undersøger, hvordan den danske besættelsestid fortsat formidles og erindres, med et lokalt fokus på Aalborg og modstandsbevægelsen – især Churchill-klubben – som et centralt erindringssted. Med udgangspunkt i spændingsfeltet mellem faghistorisk og populær formidling belyses fortællepotentialet i krigen og de mytedannende prægninger af den kollektive erindring. Metodisk kombineres tre analyser: en niveauopdelt analyse af Aalborg Historiske Museums permanente udstilling ’Aalborg i krig’ (med perspektiver til Det Jyske Modstandsmuseum og Aarhus Besættelsesmuseum), en erindringsanalyse af mindesteder i Aalborg samt Knud Pedersens erindringsværker (særligt Churchill-klubben, 1945), og en medieanalyse af Bjarne Reuters ungdomsroman Drengene fra Sankt Petri og Søren Kragh-Jacobsens film af samme navn. Som rekvirent indgår Nordjyllands Historiske Museum, og specialet forholder sig til museets perspektivplan, herunder ambitioner om oplevelsesøkonomi og digitale formidlingsgreb, i lyset af udstillingens mere traditionelle udtryk. Formålet er at klarlægge, hvilken rolle forskellige medier spiller for offentlighedens forståelse af besættelsen, hvordan de hver især fortolker modstandskampen, og hvorfor perioden fortsat har fortællemæssig relevans. This thesis examines how the German occupation of Denmark is mediated and remembered, focusing on Aalborg and the resistance movement—particularly the Churchill Club—as a key site of memory. Positioning itself between scholarly and popular history, it explores the narrative appeal of the war and the myth-making elements of collective remembrance. The study combines three approaches: a multi-level analysis of the Aalborg Historical Museum’s permanent exhibition ‘Aalborg at War’ (with comparisons to the Jutland Resistance Museum and the Aarhus Occupation Museum); a memory analysis of local memorial sites and Knud Pedersen’s memoirs (especially Churchill-klubben, 1945); and a media analysis of Bjarne Reuter’s young adult novel The Boys from St. Petri and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen’s film of the same title. As the commissioning body, the North Jutland Historical Museum frames the context, and the thesis considers its perspective plan—particularly ambitions for experience economy and digital formats—against the exhibition’s more traditional presentation. The aim is to clarify the roles different media play in shaping public understanding of the occupation, how they each interpret the resistance, and why the period remains narratively relevant.
