Abstract
Danmark får flere ældre, mens der bliver færre medarbejdere til at hjælpe dem med store pleje- og støttebehov. Rehabiliterende indsatser kan styrke ældres fysiske, psykiske og sociale funktioner og dermed øge deres selvhjulpenhed. Denne opgave undersøger muligheder og begrænsninger i projektet 'Bedre Ældreliv på Plejehjem' i Aalborg Kommune og giver anbefalinger til, hvordan rehabilitering kan implementeres og evalueres på plejehjem. Metode: Et systematisk litteraturstudie, to semistrukturerede gruppeinterview (med to fysioterapeuter, to ergoterapeuter og én aktivitetsmedarbejder) samt ét semistruktureret individuelt interview med en plejehjemsansat. Alle informanter arbejder med rehabilitering på plejehjem i Aalborg Kommune. De kvalitative data fortolkes med en hermeneutisk (fortolkende) og deduktiv (teoristyret) tilgang, inspireret af Abbott’s teori om professioner samt begreber om organisation og læring. Resultater og anbefalinger: Mangelfuld information og kommunikation, få ansatte og mangel på tid blev oplevet som væsentlige barrierer for rehabilitering. En tovholder og klare retningslinjer blev set som vigtige muligheder. På den baggrund anbefales det at skabe rammer for faglig sparring og koordinering, udpege tovholdere på alle plejehjem samt udarbejde fælles retningslinjer og en kommunikationsstrategi for projektet.
Denmark is seeing a growing number of older adults while fewer staff are available to support those with high care needs. Rehabilitative initiatives can strengthen older people's physical, psychological, and social abilities and increase self-reliance. This thesis examines the opportunities and limitations of the 'Better Elderly Life in Nursing Homes' project in Aalborg Municipality and offers recommendations for implementing and evaluating rehabilitation in nursing homes. Methods: A systematic literature review; two semi-structured group interviews (with two physiotherapists, two occupational therapists, and one activities staff member); and one semi-structured individual interview with a nursing home employee. All participants work with rehabilitation in nursing homes in Aalborg Municipality. The qualitative data were interpreted using a hermeneutic (interpretive) and deductive (theory-driven) approach, informed by Abbott’s theory of professions and concepts from organization and learning. Findings and recommendations: Limited information and communication, few staff, and lack of time were major barriers to rehabilitation. A dedicated coordinator and clear guidelines were seen as key enablers. Accordingly, we recommend creating forums for peer support and coordination, appointing coordinators at all nursing homes, and developing shared guidelines and a communication strategy for the project.
