Abstract
Dette projekt undersøger 'continuation desire' (CD) – spilleres lyst til at fortsætte – som en måde at evaluere grafisk stil i spil. Rapporten gennemgår eksisterende forskning i CD og præsenterer justeringer af ESQ-rammen for spil – en iterativ evalueringsmetode, der bruger CD, men kan afbryde spillet – for at gøre den mindre indgribende. Projektet foreslår også en metode til at klassificere og beskrive forskellige grafiske stilarter. For at afprøve tilgangen blev der designet karakterkoncepter i flere stilarter, udviklet dem og implementeret dem i et testmiljø. En online undersøgelse med 34 deltagere blev gennemført. This project investigates 'continuation desire' (CD)—players’ willingness to keep playing—as a way to evaluate graphical style in games. It reviews prior work on CD and introduces adjustments to the ESQ framework for games—an iterative evaluation approach that uses CD but can interrupt play—to make it less intrusive. The project also proposes a method to classify and describe different graphical styles. To test the approach, character concepts in several styles were designed, produced, and implemented in a test environment. An online study with 34 participants was conducted.
