Abstract
Dette projekt udvikler en praktisk teori, der skal hjælpe designere med at skabe bedre multiplayer-spil. Den bygger på spildesigneren Tom Cadwells ideer om counterplay (hvordan spillere kan reagere på hinandens handlinger) og teamplay (hvordan spillere samarbejder). Med en Grounded Theory-tilgang, hvor teori udvikles ud fra data, indsamlede studiet eksperters perspektiver fra interviews, blogindlæg, podcasts, artikler og bøger. Materialet blev analyseret med kvalitative metoder som linje-for-linje-gennemgang og udledning af centrale udsagn. Disse udsagn blev kodet og grupperet i otte kategorier og tre mønstre, som tilsammen formede den endelige teori. Resultaterne tyder på, at teorien er nyttig, men forskningsprocessen kunne dokumenteres tydeligere. This project develops a practical theory to help designers create better multiplayer games. It builds on game designer Tom Cadwell's ideas of counterplay (ways players can respond to each other's actions) and teamplay (how players cooperate). Using a Grounded Theory approach, which builds theory from data, the study gathered expert perspectives from interviews, blog posts, podcasts, articles, and books. The material was analyzed with qualitative methods such as line-by-line review and extracting key statements.
